BIOGRAPHY
Michael focuses his practice on all aspects of patent prosecution, patent portfolio management and strategy, including patent licensing and invention disclosure harvesting. His practice also involves patent opinion work, including infringement and validity studies.
Prior to joining the firm, Michael was head of the U.S. patent department of a large semiconductor company. As in-house attorney, Michael participated in M&A activities, litigations, licensing negotiations and programs, prosecution, and patent portfolio management (including invention disclosure harvesting). Michael has extensive experience of all issues stemming from differences in European/German patent prosecution and U.S. patent prosecution.
Michael has worked with many technologies, including semiconductor processing, memory and storage devices, microprocessors, testing and semiconductor processing equipment, wireline and wireless telecommunications, optics, and data networks.
EDUCATION
Michael holds a LL.B. (First State Exam) from the University Munich Law School (Ludwigs-Maximilians-Universitaet) and a LL.M. from the Duke University School of Law, Durham, NC. Michael also holds a Degree of Master of Science (Diplom Physiker) from the University Bonn (Rheinische-Friedrich-Wilhelms Universitaet).
MEMBERSHIPS
Michael is admitted to the bar in New York and Germany. He is also registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
