BIOGRAPHY
Michael J. Fogarty has extensive experience in patent prosecution and patent litigation. He has represented clients as both plaintiff and defendant in substantial patent arbitration and litigation matters. Mike manages and prosecutes clients' United States and international patent portfolios. He has also assists clients with other intellectual property projects, including due diligence, opinion work, licensing, and general IP counseling.
Mike has worked with many technologies, including 2G and 3G wireless telecommunications, electronics, RFID, microprocessors, memory and storage devices, computer design, optics, signal processing, optical transmission networks, radar, and test equipment.
Prior to his legal career, Mike was a Lieutenant Commander and Naval Flight Officer in the United States Navy and Naval Reserve for ten years. During his Navy career, Mike was an F/A-18 "Hornet" flight instructor and F-14 "Tomcat" Radar Intercept Officer. He also taught classes on radar, missile and electronic warfare systems.
After receiving his BSEE, Mike was an engineer with Northrop Corporation's Defense Systems Division, where he worked on RF circuit design before entering the military.
EDUCATION
Mike received his B.S. in electrical engineering from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign in 1984 and his J.D., cum laude, from the Southern Methodist University School of Law in 1997.
MEMBERSHIPS
Mike is a member of the State Bar of Texas and the Dallas Bar Association. He is registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office. He also is admitted to practice before the U.S. District Courts for the Northern and Eastern Districts of Texas and in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth and Federal Circuits.
